Astros change yellow line in outfield (AP)
The Houston Astros removed a yellow board on an outfield wall on Tuesday that contributed to a botched home run call the night before. Geovany Soto got an inside-the-park three-run homer in the fourth inning despite replays showing that it should have been an automatic home run. The ball bounced just to the right of the yellow line on the wall in left-center field.

Astros Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

A day after the Cubs‘ Geovany Soto hit an inside-the-park home run off the yellow line on the wall in left-center field, the line that ran vertically on a 45-degree angle facing home plate was removed to make it easier for umpires to judge when a ball is officially a traditional home run.

Now, the entire side of that wall is green, meaning any ball hit over the yellow line above the center field wall from left center through the batter’s eye is a home run.

“It’s just so there’s no confusion,” said former Astros general manager Bob Watson, Major League Baseball’s vice president of standards and on-field Operations. “There’s no need for that type of confusion at a big-league ballpark.”
